The Government of Sindh has announced a relief package worth of Rs30 billion to protect the poor and middle class from the soaring cost of living. This special subsidy initiative is set to be announced in May 2026 and will be aimed at the two most impacted communities – the fishermen living along the coast and the millions of motorcyclists throughout the province. The initiative has been introduced to provide instant liquidity and fuel relief to the people whose livelihoods are linked with the need of affordable mobility and energy, said Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Overview of the Sindh Relief Package 2026
The Rs30 billion fund has been strategically allocated to address the specific needs of the working class. The package is segmented into two main groups:
Subsidies for Fishermen (Fisheries Support Program)
The fishing community on Sindh’s long coastal belt has been seriously affected by high prices of diesel fuel. Under this new package:
Fuel Subsidies: Registered fishermen will be able to get a considerable discount on fuel for their boat engines.
Gear Grants: Subsidies will be available for the acquisition of good quality fishing nets and cold storage equipment to reduce post catch losses.
Food Security: The families will receive a direct cash transfer every month during the “breeding season” (fishing ban months) to provide food security.
Fuel Relief for Motorcyclists
Recognizing that motorcycles are the backbone of urban transport for the middle class, the Sindh government has introduced a “Petrol Card” system.
Discounted Rates: Motorcyclists who are eligible may be eligible for a subsidy of Rs20 per liter to Rs30 per liter for up to a certain fixed quantity of fuel (e.g., 30 liters per month).
Targeting: The program is based on information provided by Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) and Sindh Excise & Taxation Department to ensure that only the true low income owners benefit from the program.
How to Register Your Name
The registration process of the May 2026 package has been made digital for transparency and speed. Please follow the steps below to apply:

SMS Registration: Citizens can also register by sending their 13 digit CNIC to a specific short code number (which will be published in the national media).
Conditions of verification: Motorcyclists must have a vehicle registered in their name, and hold a valid driving license. A Fisherman Card, issued by the Livestock & Fisheries Department is required for fishermen.
District Centers: Registration desks have been established in the offices of the Assistant Commissioners in all Districts for the benefit of those who are not able to use the Internet.
Ensuring Transparency and Accountability
Preventing misuse of funds, the Sindh Finance Department has tied up with local banks to provide subsidies through biometrics. This ensures that the Rs30 billion relief reaches the intended hands without the interference of middlemen.
