The Elementary and Secondary Education Department (E&SED) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has introduced an innovative program for the province aimed at transforming the summer months for school-age children. The KP Summer Learning Festival, officially titled the KP Summer Grooming and Education Program, is a month-long program that starts on July 1st and ends on July 31st. It creates a structure between the school and the field day with the incorporation of essential life skills and leadership development activities with recreation.
It is important to parents, educators, and students to know where the programs are located and who is eligible to participate in order to optimize the summer vacation. This article gives you all the details about this star attraction festival – where it takes place and who is eligible to attend.
Who Can Participate in the KP Summer Learning Festival?
The provincial government has designed the festival in such a way as to ensure inclusive growth, and that it reaches youth who most will benefit from having a structured, out-of-school learning environment.
Student involvement is based on the following criteria:
The program mainly focuses on the boys and girls studying in government primary, secondary and high schools in KP.
Target Grade Brackets: The curriculum and training modules are designed for middle and secondary school students typically in Grades 6 – 12.
Special emphasis is given to the students of the southern districts and Newly Merged Districts (NMDs/Ex-FATA). This strategic priority provides equal exposure to youth from remote areas to modern skills and personal development.
Selection by Merit & Nomination: The selection is generally made by the school head and District Education Officers (DEOs) based on the potential of the students in the academic field, discipline and interest in co-curricular activities.
Venues and Logistical Structure of the Festival
A distinct geographical exchange is used by the KP Government for camping sites to relieve their citizens from the hot summers on the plains and to offer an inspiring setting.
1. Shift to Winter-Zone Districts
The festival camps are physically hosted in the scenic, cooler winter-zone districts of KP. Key hosting regions include:
Abbottabad
Mansehra
Swat
Chitral
Dir
2. Designated Host Schools
The main campsites are the selected Divisional Public Schools (DPS), District Public Schools and government/well-equipped higher secondary boarding schools in these hilly stations. These classes are converted to housing and become schools where students from various districts reside and study together.
3. All-Inclusive Government Provisioning
The KP Education department takes care of all preparations related to the educational event at no cost to the family, making it easier for families from low income backgrounds to attend. The government directly provides:
Boarding for girls and boys in a secure setting.
Healthy day to day meals and clean drinking water.
Special transportation from home districts to venues at the hill station.
Installation of medical camps on site and 24-hour security service provided by local administration.
Core Activities Inside the Grooming Camps
The KP Summer Learning Festival is more than just rote-learned. The daily program of the campsites consists of three main points:
Digital Literacy & IT Bootcamps: The students are provided with practical learning experiences on the basics of coding, freelancing and safe usage of the internet, preparing them for the digital economy.
Character Building & Leadership: Interactive seminars are designed to highlight civic responsibility, team building, effective communication and emotional intelligence.
Sports & Cultural Exchange: Inter-district sports events, hiking trips and cultural nights promote provincial peace and good health.
Official enrollment announcements can be tracked, or a list of selected schools can be seen at the regional level, using real-time information on the KP Elementary and Secondary Education Department Official Portal.
