The latest hydrological dashboard of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) shows river inflow in the country. As per the data, the water level of the main waterway of the country, the Indus is rising at various critical points. Low level flood situation is prevailing at Kalabagh, Guddu and Sukkur barrages, bordering the lower embankments and river bed communities are being monitored by district administrations. On the other hand, water transmission metrics are 100% normal in up-stream areas like Tarbela and Chashma barrages, and down-stream Taunsa and Kotri barrages.
Indus River Inflows: Breakdown of Discharges at Kalabagh, Guddu, and Sukkur
Due to seasonal monsoon phenomenon and glacial melting upstream, the water level at three main structural barrages has jumped into low level flood stage. The proportion of water supplies at these key locations includes:
Due to the ongoing flood situation in the Indus River, the water inflow at Kalabagh recorded 273,608 cusecs, which is in a safe range of low flood level.
Guddu Barrage: River flow at the entry point of the river in Sindh province was 258,811 cusecs, prompting the respective riverbed communities to be alert.
Sukkur Barrage: Sukkur is pumping the most water at this point, and registered a discharge of 287,583 cusecs. Engineering teams closely watch the barrage gates at all times.
Although the water level is low at these three locations, all protective dykes, spurs and river embankments are still very stable and intact.

Tarbela and Mangla Dams: Reservoir Levels and Current Storage Capacity
Water is steadily piling up in Pakistan’s two main storage dams, Tarbela Dam and Mangla Dam. This accumulation provides the best conditions for hydropower production and for the next crop.
Tarbela Dam (Indus River): Tarbela Dam water level is up to 1,543 ft. The reservoir has a considerable amount of water above the dead level and the Water Management Teams can have a steady discharge from the reservoir to meet the requirements of Chashma and Taunsa.
Mangla Dam (Jhelum River): The water level at Mangla Dam stands at 1,199 feet. This conserved water will be useful to meet the requirement of the Rabi (winter) cropping season.
Hydrological Evaluation: Flow Conditions in Kabul, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej
All other eastern and western tributary rivers of Pakistan are running in normal conditions within their safe limits as per Federal Flood Commission and Meteorological Department.
The water discharge at Nowshera is normal, there is no immediate flood situation in Nowshera and adjacent areas of Both Charsadda and Peshawar.
The water level at all important gauging stations of the Ravi, namely Jassar, Shahdara (Lahore), Balloki and Sidhnai Headworks is totally at baseline and there is no sign of any unmanageable trans-boundary water release.
Sutlej River: The flow of water is still fully controlled at Ganda Singh Wala (Kasur), Sulemanki and Islam Headworks and normal economic and agricultural activities are continuing as usual along the riverbeds.
Certain areas of the Indus River are seeing high flows, but the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and provincial irrigation departments are ready to deal with any unexpected surge in flow.
