The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced a highly anticipated digital utility enabling registered taxpayers to modify or cancel old sales tax invoices online. Rolled out via the main IRIS platform, this progressive facility allows corporate businesses to rectify critical electronic invoicing errors even after the expiry of the conventional 72-hour regulatory time frame.
System Application Process via the IRIS System Portal
According to an official user manual published by Pakistan Revenue Automation Private Limited (PRAL) on Thursday November 5, 2026 the online feature offers systemic relief for past filing discrepancies. Taxpayers can easily start this process by going to the Sales Tax section of IRIS and selecting the dedicated amendment tab. The applicant(s) are required to attach their respective FBR Invoice Transaction Numbers indicating the tax period they are targeting and submit the required supporting documents in PDF format for official consideration.
Important regulations and guidelines are applied:
All formal corrections/cancellations are subject to the final approval of the relevant Commissioner Inland Revenue (CIR). However, the tax regulatory system enforces distinct procedural boundaries. Taxpayers cannot amend and cancel the exact same invoice within a single application. Furthermore, while an official request is pending users are temporarily blocked from submitting their Annexure-C Sales Tax Return until the commissioner reaches a definitive decision. Approved adjustments will automatically validate within the system drastically minimizing corporate compliance hurdles across Pakistan.
