Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of a direct flight from Lahore to Paris starting from June 18. This new weekly route will offer passengers more convenience especially those traveling from Lahore to France. PIA is already operating two weekly flights from Islamabad to Paris and the addition of this new route is expected to increase the airline foreign exchange earnings.
PIA management is optimistic about the airline future after recent improvements. Parliamentary Secretary Zeb Jaffar informed the National Assembly that PIA has been operating in profit since March 2024. She mentioned that previous irresponsible statements made in Parliament had harmed the airline image and affected its business. However the airline is showing signs of recovery with renewed efforts and support.
Zeb Jaffar also stated that PIA has resumed flights to European destinations including Paris after successful negotiations with the EU Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Talks are also underway with UK aviation authorities to resume flights there. Additionally discussions with Turkish Airlines are in progress to create more travel options for Pakistani passengers. The government is actively working to expand PIA operations on profitable international routes in the Middle East and North Africa.
