The Balochistan government has taken an important step toward digitisation by planning to connect Bolan Medical Complex and Sandeman Provincial Hospital with NADRA for the online registration of birth and death certificates. This announcement was made by Local Government and Rural Development Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch on Tuesday.
He said that the digital system for birth and death certificates is already in place. More steps are now being taken to improve the registration process and strengthen the Civil Registration Management System in the province.
A meeting was held to discuss these developments which included senior officials like Health Secretary Mujeebur Rehman Panizai, Local Government Board Secretary Shujaat Hussain, NADRA DG Balochistan Naveed Jan Sahibzada, assistant directors and health card and NADRA representatives.
During the meeting Abdul Rauf Baloch stressed the need to make Union Council offices more active so that people can easily get birth, death, marriage and divorce certificates.
It was also decided to set up a local level committee to review old birth and death records and resolve any issues in the registration process.
The meeting ended with the signing of an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) between the Local Government Department, Health Department and NADRA which will now work together to fully digitise birth and death registrations across Balochistan.
