Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, the Governor of Sindh, officially launched the inaugural fully funded Free AI Summer Camp for the school kids at Governor House in Karachi. This technology-focused learning program seeks to redefine the traditional summer break as a rich and valuable learning experience, one that is rich in critical thinking and digital skills development.
The economic and educational future of Pakistan is strongly tied to the modern technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and information technology (IT) ecosystem, which is where the Governor believes the country will need to focus going forward. The government aims to narrow the digital divide by offering state-of-the-art tech training, without any financial burden, enabling students from disadvantaged backgrounds to compete at a global level.
Eligibility Criteria for the Free AI Summer Camp
The Sindh Governor House has set clear eligibility criteria especially for young learners for maximum inclusiveness:
Target Grades: The summer camp is specifically geared towards young students who are currently enrolled in Grades 6-10 (generally ages 11-17).
Basic Technical Know-How: Governor Nehal Hashmi stated during the launch press conference that admissions will be granted strictly on merit to any child who knows how to operate a basic mobile phone. No advanced coding background is required.
Zero Cost Protection: The entire one-month training program is fully funded. There are absolutely no hidden registration charges or monthly tuition fees.
Step-by-Step Admission and Registration Process
The Governor House has streamlined the application framework through a dedicated online portal. Parents or guardians can register their children by following these steps:
Visit the Official Portal: Access the web browser on your smartphone or computer and navigate to the official platform: Governor Sindh IT Initiative.
Locate the Summer Camp Link: Click directly on the specialized sub-portal hosted at Free AI Summer Camp – Governor Sindh.
Complete the Registration Form: Ensure that the student details in the digital registration form are accurate. Such as a student’s legal name, father’s name, current school name, current grade level and date of birth.
Enter Active Contact Details: Enter a mobile number of a parent and an “active” email address to receive follow-ups on the spot.
Submit and Print: Check the data provided, click “Apply Now” or “Submit,” and print the system-generated confirmation slip or registration tracking number and take it to the Governor House security gates for future reference.
What Will Students Learn at the Camp?
The comprehensive curriculum of this one-month program is structured to transform children from mere consumers of digital content into creators of technological opportunities. The core educational modules include:
Understanding what artificial intelligence is, how it works, and its application in today’s society.
Prompt Engineering & Language Models: How to interact with Large Language Models (LLMs) to get code, art or text summarizations in a precise manner.
Digital Creativity & Problem Solving: Involving students in logical coding structures and problem-solving activities using technology.
The initiative is in line with the overall Digital Pakistan vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aimed at making the youth independent technocrats.
