With the skyrocketing prices of energy resources and worsening air pollution, Pakistan is fast embracing a green journey. The government has responded with a landmark scheme to accelerate the introduction of electric cars in Pakistan, named PAVE (Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification), often dubbed as the Government Electric Bike Scheme. It is run by the Ministry of Industries and Production with a view to giving cost-effective and environment friendly transport facilities to students, salaried persons, women and less-afforded people.

Subsidies Offered Under the Government Electric Bike Scheme
The Engineering Development Board (EDB) has structured the scheme to maximize financial relief for citizens. Applicants can choose between two main financial pathways:
Self-Finance Category: Electric vehicles, if bought outright, are eligible for a direct cash subsidy of up to Rs. Up to Rs. 50,000 for e-bikes (two-wheel vehicles). 200,000 for electric rickshaws/loaders (three-wheelers).
A very easy option available, when the buyer cannot afford to pay the price outright in cash, partner financial institutions have an interest-free (0% markup) financing which is spread over an easy 24 to 36 months instalment plan and the interest cost is covered by the government.
Government Electric Bike Scheme Eligibility Criteria
The following are the minimum requirements needed to be eligible for the Government Electric Bike Scheme.
Citizenship: Must be a citizen of Pakistan with a valid CNIC.
Age Range: Applicants should be 18-65 years at the time of application.
Geo Targeting: The main target groups being active students, salaried people (both government and private sector), freelance individuals, sole-proprietors, and female employees commuting.
Credit Standing: If you are like everyone else who prefers the installment service then you have to have a good credit rating with no run defaults with the bank.

Please make sure that you have clear and easily readable digital photos (or scans) of the following documents before you register online on the digital registration system:
Original CNIC (Front and back)
A recent passport-sized picture on a blue or white background.
Proof of income (such as employment salary slip) or active student status (Student ID and/or certificate from the education institution)

Step-by-Step Guide to Apply Online
The government has automated the entire processing cycle to maintain transparency. Follow these steps to register your application:
Portal Registration
Follow the link to the official PAVE Web Portal. Click on the register tab, add details in CNIC number, full name, active e-mail and mobile number. Confirm your identity with the One-Time Password (OTP) that has been sent to your mobile phone by SMS.
Choose Your Financing & Vehicle Model
Log in to your newly created dashboard and complete your personal profile. Select your preferred financial stream (“Self Finance” or “Bank Lease”). Browse through the officially certified Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)—such as Vlektra Electric Bikes or EcoDost—to select your desired electric bike model and battery configuration.
Document Upload & Submission
Upload your scanned documents carefully by filling in the relevant areas. Make sure text included on CNIC and License are visible as its blurring points are the main cause of rejection. Before clicking the “Submit” button, read through the form carefully.
Transparent E-Balloting and Delivery
The processing system will use a computer based electronic draw (e-balloting) to select candidates if the number of applications becomes greater than the amount of subsidy available. The official notification will be sent to the successful candidates by SMS and e-mail. The winners have to pay the downpayment or get a pay order, and the electric bike will be delivered by the manufacturer within 60 days.
