The construction of the first Floating Restaurant of Lahore has started officially and this is an innovative project that is designed to bring a new facet to the recreational and tourism environment of this area. Located along the old Lahore Canal, the project has already created a lot of interest in the residents and visitors that are keen on enjoying a unique dining and leisure facility in the center of this city.
The First Floating Restaurant of Lahore, according to the officials, is likely to be completed in the month of June of the current financial year, as long as all construction and technical activities are followed. The authorities are making significant infrastructural enhancements to the canal to make sure that the operations are safe and continuous. They are the deepening of the canal, which was 7 feet, to 13 feet, and its widening to 30 feet which will support the floating structure and enhance the management of water in the location.
The construction work has been given to HRD and NESPAK is acting as the consultant of the project offering technical know-how and overseeing the design. Moreover, the Irrigation Department is also engaged closely to oversee the issues that involve water and engineering so that the project is of a standard that includes safety and environmental requirements.
The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) officials revealed that the floating restaurant would be a 3-storey modern building that would be well constructed so that it blended with the nature of the canal environment. The restaurant shall accommodate approximately 80 people simultaneously providing a fine quality of food with a panoramic canal view.
The PHA Managing Director Raja Mansoor Ahmed wrote that the project does not just aim at making Lahore look better, but also to increase tourism and develop new recreational facilities to offer to the population. He indicated that the cost of the First Floating Restaurant of Lahore is estimated to cost around 4.9 billion.
After completion, the floating restaurant will become one of the key attractions in big cities, integrating a fine dining experience with leisure and tourism and becoming an additional argument to the fact that Lahore is a vibrant center of culture and lifestyle.
