Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team in their 2nd warm up match put on a splendid performance against West Indies. Pakistan on Monday achieved a 189 run target with ease and won by five wickets with 23 balls remaining. It is their second successive win in the warm up stage ahead of the main tournament.

Pakistan’s bowlers gave a brilliant performance. West Indies by winning toss elected to bat first and scored 188/8 in their 50 overs. The best performer in Pakistan’s bowling line was Sadia Iqbal whose 3 for 21 was a standout spell. Her innings was well supported by Nashra Sandhu who took 2 wickets for 47 runs whereas skipper Fatima Sana, Diana Baig and Rameen Shamim each shared one wicket. Shabika Gujanbi was the West Indies’ leading run scorer who finished at 68 not out with 41 from Jannillea Glasgow.

Pakistan chased down the total steadily with a great opening partnership in response. Vice captain Muneeba Ali made 87 runs from 113 balls and Natalia Parvaiz contributed with a good knock of 53 runs off 60 balls. Gull Feroza also played well and knocked 28 runs.

The ICC Women Cricket World Cup Qualifier will be hosted from April 9-19. Pakistan will begin their campaign versus Ireland on the very first day whereas West Indies will play with Scotland. The tournament will decide the last two teams that have the opportunity to qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup.

Having won two warm-up matches back to back, the Pakistan women cricket team looks confident.
