The Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi in Rawalpindi on Thursday has been delayed. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took the decision after a meeting with players, franchise owners and team officials.
The current security situation of the area was the main reason for the delay.There has been a rise in tensions recently and the security of players and officials became a priority.
Sources say that the PCB is now considering relocating the remaining PSL 10 matches to Karachi. This would make sure improved security and also simplify travel and logistics.
The matter turned more alarming after a drone crashed by the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday. The security forces reached the location immediately and sealed off the site. Preliminary reports indicate that the drone could have been employed for spying purposes.
The PCB is likely to change the schedule soon after evaluating the situation in more depth.
