Islamabad: The Ministry of Religious Affairs has officially opened applications for the Private Hajj Scheme 2026, giving thousands of Pakistanis another chance to perform the sacred journey next year.
According to the ministry, 37,903 new pilgrims will be allowed to apply this time. But before them, 22,097 people who couldn’t go for Hajj last year will automatically get priority.
Private Hajj operators have been directed to first accommodate last year’s leftover applicants. For this, they must submit affidavits confirming that those pilgrims are being re-registered before new names are considered.
Private Hajj Quota
- Total quota: 60,000 pilgrims
- Priority pilgrims (from 2025): 22,097
- New applicants (2026): 37,903
This system ensures that those who were left behind previously finally get their turn.
Govt Hajj Scheme Applications Closed
Earlier, the ministry had already completed the application process for the Government Hajj Scheme 2026. A total of 118,060 people applied within just 17 days — much quicker than in past years.
Applicants applied for both short and long Hajj trips, depending on their budget and preference. With this, the government has now stopped receiving further applications.
Payment Schedule & Costs
- First instalment: 50% of Hajj cost (already collected)
- Second instalment: Due from November 1, 2025
Experts estimate that the government Hajj package will cost between PKR 1.15 million and PKR 1.25 million, depending on where the pilgrim lives and the duration of stay.
With the private scheme now open and last year’s pending pilgrims prioritized, the government hopes for a smoother process in 2026. For many Pakistanis, this announcement brings relief and a renewed chance to fulfill their lifelong dream of performing Hajj.
