Punjab is on the brink of a tourism revolution. On April 20, 2026, in a historic move, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz gave a go-ahead to a set of high-profile infrastructural developments to turn the Murree district into a global destination. The crown jewel of this program is the Punjab First Sky Glass Bridge that is going to transform the sightseeing experience of the scenic hills of Kotli Sattian.
This approval was done in a high-level meeting that was co-chaired by CM Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif. This project forms a key element of the “Murree Protection and Rehabilitation Plan, which is an elaborate plan to develop the local economy and at the same time maintain the natural beauty of the area.
Elevating Tourism: The Kotli Sattian Sky Glass Bridge
The move to build the first Sky Glass Bridge in Punjab at Kotli Sattian is a strategic plan to redirect the high number of tourists attracted to main Murree to the equally attractive locations around it. This architectural wonder will be able to provide panoramic unhindered views of the fertile valleys down below, and it will give thrill-seekers and nature enthusiasts a new outlook of the Potohar plateau.
In order to maintain the international standards, the Government of Punjab intends to involve the international engineering companies to maintain the safety and structural integrity.
The Murree Glass Train and Glamping Pod Villages
The Chief Minister has ordered the Murree Glass Train project to start immediately, beyond the bridge and construction will start in the next 30 days. The train will enable the passengers to admire the scenic beauty of the pine forests through transparent panels just as the famous panoramic trains in Switzerland.
Also, to meet the new trend of glamping, a special Glamping Pod Village will be built at Chewra Hill. The maintenance and service delivery of this facility will be outsourced to the private sector in order to have high end services.
Hospitality Zones and Wildlife Conservation
The plan also includes the establishment of three “Hospitality Zones” in:
- Shawala
- Sozo
- Brewery
There will be five star hotels and luxury resorts in these areas. Moreover, the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) is managing the construction of an eco-zone at Bansera Gali which will comprise a zoological garden, tiger and bear house and a bird aviary.
