The Sindh government has officially announced a public holiday on May 28 in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer. A notification issued on Monday confirmed that all government offices and schools across Sindh will remain closed on this day. Normal activities including the reopening of schools and offices will resume on Wednesday, May 29.

In addition to this, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has also declared a holiday on May 28. The stock market will remain closed as per the public holiday announced by the federal government according to a statement issued by PSX
Youm-e-Takbeer is observed every year on May 28 to celebrate the day when Pakistan successfully conducted nuclear tests in Chaghai, Balochistan in 1998. These tests made Pakistan the seventh nuclear power in the world and the first Muslim country to possess nuclear weapons. Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was the Prime Minister of Pakistan at that time.
