A University Town in Islamabad is an intended major education-oriented project that is planned to be developed by the federal government as part of theIslamabad Vision 2027. The project is geared towards offering international standard academic, research and residential facilities to students across every region of Pakistan.

The Interior Minister, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, announced it when he was present at a ceremony at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU). He reported that the idea is on the verge of completion and will soon be officially declared in the long-term development plan of Islamabad.

Vision Behind University Town in Islamabad

The minister believes that the proposed University Town in Islamabad will be a special academic zone. It will have universities, hostels, research centers and modern infrastructure under a single roof and thus Islamabad will become more of a hub of higher education.

It is projected that the project will help to minimize the necessity of Pakistani students studying outside their country as it will provide facilities of the world standard.

    QAU Upgrades and Infrastructure Plans

Mohsin Naqvi described Islamabad as incomplete without Quaid-i-Azam University, and said it is at the centre of the academic identity of the city. He was not satisfied with the existing entrance of QAU and instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to design and make it attractive.

He also declared that the current auditorium of QAU will be upgraded to a state of the art auditorium that will reflect the present-day academic and event demands.
