With the changing weather conditions and the rising smog levels in all parts of Punjab, the provincial government has declared new school times to begin on Monday, October 27, 2025. It will not cease such timings until April 15, 2026.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has declared that henceforth, all the schools would commence at 8.45 am and close at 1.30 pm. Classes will be terminated earlier on Fridays at 12.30 pm.
The schools to go through one shift will work between 8:45 am to 1:30 pm as it will be stated in the official notice.
In the case of the two shifts, the first shift will be 8:45 am to 1:30 pm and the second shift will be 1: 00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The teachers shall be expected to be at work at 8:30 am up to 2:00 pm with exception on Fridays where they can be permitted to leave at 12.30 pm.
Schools will also be opened on alternative Saturdays and this will be between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon.

It has been allowed that district education officers can shift such time up to 15 minutes according to the weather conditions in the areas. According to the executives this move was adopted to make sure that the students are not exposed to health complications as smog and cold mornings are more dangerous in the early morning.
The Education Department also clarified that the new schedule was just a temporary precautionary measure, which will only take care of until better weather conditions and quality of air.
