Former federal minister and senator Abbas Afridi tragically passed away on Friday due to severe burn injuries he sustained in a gas leak explosion the previous day. Three other people also got burn injuries in the incident.
The funeral of Senator Abbas Afridi will be held today on Friday at 5 PM in Babri Banda Kohat.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has expressed sorrow over the demise of Abbas Afrdi.
He has also directed relevant authorities to do proper and fair investigation of the incident.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson has stated that the explosion occurred in Kohat where Abbas Afridi and his friends were sitting in a hujra. A gas leak caused a sudden explosion and damaged the walls of the room. Rescue teams quickly moved the injured to Kohat Combined Military Hospital (CMH). Senator Abbas Afridi was later flown by helicopter to a burn center in Kharian, Punjab.
Kohat police spokesperson Nouman Ali has confirmed that the condition of Abbas Afridi became critical and he could not sustain the injuries. His body was brought back to Kohat on Friday. The other three injured individuals Dilnawaz, Javed Afridi and Nadeem were transferred to a divisional hospital for treatment.
