Rajab Butt has faced legal proceedings in the past as well . He was arrested for publicly displaying firearms and keeping a lion cub at his home without proper permits in December last year.
The police along with the Wildlife Department raided his house in the Chuhng area after reports surfaced that he was illegally keeping wildlife and showing off weapons.
The authorities seized the lion cub which Rajab Butt had received as a wedding gift during the raid.
A special judicial magistrate found him guilty of unlawfully possessing the wild animal later. The court ordered him to complete one year of community service instead of sending him to jail.
Rajab Butt must create and post a 5-minute video every month from February 2025 to January 2026 as part of this sentence. Each video should focus on raising awareness about animal rights.
