Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been signing a very important Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Italian Cricket Federation (FCRI) and this is a very significant step towards increasing international collaboration in cricket. The agreement will be aimed at boosting the development of cricket in Italy and developing the sports relations between Italy and United Arab Emirates on a healthy basis.
The MoU was signed by the Chief Operating Officer of PCB, Sumair Ahmad Syed and the President of Italian Cricket Federation, Maria Lorena Haz Paz.
Within this partnership, the two organisations will help to develop men and women cricket in Italy particularly following the recent qualification of Italian national team to participate in the coming ICC Men T20 World Cup. The agreement provides a general development strategy to be concerned with technical guidance, structural improvement, and competitive opportunity.
Within the context of the collaboration, the two parties will collaborate in addressing a number of critical areas, which involve:
- Coaching and technical experts exchange.
- Combined training camps, workshops and seminars.
- Friendly matches and bilateral tourism at various levels.
- Financial assistance to the development of better infrastructure in Italy and the development of youths into playing cricket.
During the signing, PCB COO Sumair Ahmad Syed stated that Pakistan will play its part in the development of cricket at the international level. He pointed out that this agreement will contribute to the enhancement of sporting and cultural relations between Pakistan and Italy.
The cooperation was warmly received by FCRI President Maria Lorena Haz Paz, as she said that the agreement will correspond to the long-term plan of the country to elevate the level of playing cricket. She also said the FCRI is to establish more partnership with other boards in order to hasten the development of cricket in Italy.
The PCB was optimistic that such a partnership will result in the future gain of the players, coaches, and the cricket fans in the two countries.
