Google has introduced a new feature called Gemini Personal Intelligence, designed to make its AI assistant more helpful by understanding you better. Instead of just knowing the world, Gemini now learns from your connected Google apps to give more personal and useful answers.
With a single tap, users can link apps like Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search. This allows Gemini to pull relevant details from your own data to help with daily tasks. The feature is launching as a beta in the US for selected Google AI Pro and Ultra users.
How Gemini Personal Intelligence Helps You
Gemini Personal Intelligence works by reasoning across emails, photos, and searches. As an example, when you forget the size of your tires, Gemini can locate them after a scan of your previous emails or photos, and even recommends a choice based on your commuting pattern.
It is also able to suggest books, travel arrangements, clothes, and shows depending on your interests. Gemini can also avoid tourist traps and propose better ideas with your previous trips and likes in case you are going to that specific place.
Concisely, it saves time and eliminates stress in day-to-day decision making.
Google says privacy is central to Gemini Personal Intelligence. The feature is off by default. You decide which apps to connect to and can turn it off anytime. Gemini only uses your data to answer your questions and does not directly train on your Gmail or Photos.
You can also ask Gemini where its answer came from and remove personalization whenever you want.
How to Enable Gemini Personal Intelligence
Users can turn it on by opening Gemini > Settings > Personal Intelligence > Connected Apps. Google plans to expand the feature to more countries and free users in the future.
