The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission of Pakistan (SUPARCO) has published its prediction on the Shaban Moon in Pakistan 2026. The new moon of Shaban could be seen on the evening of January 20, 2026, according to the agency.
Supparo SUPARCO reported that the moon will be conceived at the conjunction on January 19 at 12:52am (PST).
Moon Age and Visibility Probabilities
According to SUPARCO, on January 19 the age of the moon will be approximately 17 hours and 36 minutes. In coastal Pakistan, the distance between the moonset and the sunset will be almost 33 minutes.
Due to poor astronomical conditions, it is extremely unlikely that the moon would be visible using the naked eye on January 19.
In these observations, SUPARCO predicts that in case the moon is seen on January 20, then in Pakistan the first day of Shaban will probably be January 21, 2026.
But the ultimate ruling will be declared by the Pakistan Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee which affirms the commencement of Islamic months after conducting a survey on the confirmed moon sighting sources around the country.
Meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
It is anticipated that on January 19 evening, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is going to meet to sight the Shaban moon. Meetings on zonal and district committees will also be made in order to gather evidence in various areas.
The government has also come up with a mobile application known as Ruet to assist in making the process of moon sighting easier and more efficient.
