Thailand immigration relief 2026 measures have been provided by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). To help foreign nationals which are stuck in the country because of the current airspace closures and flight interruptions in the Middle East, the Thai Immigration Bureau has implemented temporary relief policies.
These interim arrangements are made to visitors whose authorization to reside will run out on or later than 28 February 2026, so they do not incur unnecessary fines and legal difficulties in this uncertain global air travel condition.
30-Day Thai Visa Extensions Explained
To provide relief to the affected foreign nationals, the Thai Immigration Bureau is providing two major forms of relief based on their intentions of leaving or staying:
No Overstay Fines on Travelers Leaving Thailand: In these provisional measures, overstay fines will be fully waived on the travels leaving the Kingdom who have the expired visa. Under such circumstances, there will be no penalty payments at the airport or the border checkpoints when leaving Thailand.
Temporary 30-Day Stay Extensions to Remaining Tourists: Foreigners who desire to continue staying in Thailand until the normal flights resume may seek an extension of stay temporarily. Under every approved extension, there should be a period of 30 days per permission.

Guide to TM.7 & STM Forms
The applicants who want to extend their temporary stay are required to submit certain documents in his or her local Immigration Bureau. In order to make sure that the process will be smooth, make certain that you have the following comprehensive checklist of the required documents:
TM.7 Application Form: This is the generic official form needed whenever one wants to extend the temporary stay in Thailand.
Passport Copy: The applicant has to produce a clear legible copy of his/her passport or other official travel document (including the bio page and the page that has the last entry stamp).
Official Embassy Letter: A formal letter of your embassy or consulate of the need of the extension owing to present disruptions of flights. (In the event that this letter is not available, immigration officers are given the mandate to take a personal statement describing why you are seeking it).
Other STM Forms: The travelers should also obtain and make submissions of STM.2, STM.2/1 and STM.9 acknowledgments.
Such temporary immigration processes come into force instantly and will be strictly enforced until the aviation scenario becomes normal or a formal order given by the government to cancel the same.

Who is eligible for the Thai immigration relief measures?
These temporary measures apply to foreign nationals whose permission to stay in Thailand expired from 28 February 2026 onward and who cannot leave due to Middle East airspace closures and flight disruptions.
Will I have to pay an overstay fine inThailand if my flight was canceled?
No. If you are departing Thailand and your overstay is directly linked to these specific flight disruptions, your overstay fines will be completely waived at the immigration exit point.
What forms are required to extend my stay in Thailand?
To apply for a 30-day extension, you must submit the main TM.7 application form, along with your passport copy, an embassy letter, and the supplementary STM.2, STM.2/1, and STM.9 forms.
