The Sindh Minimum Wages Board has suggested raising the minimum monthly salary by Rs3,000.

This proposal is sent to the provincial government recommending an 8.1% hike in the current minimum wage. It will take minimum wage from Rs37,000 to Rs40,000 per month. The new rates, if approved, will be effective from July 1, 2025 and will apply to 60 industries across Sindh.

The increase will cover all categories of workers including:

    • Unskilled adults and adolescents
    • Semi-skilled
    • Skilled
    • Highly skilled workers

    As per the proposal:

    • Semi-skilled workers: Rs41,280/month
    • Skilled workers: Rs48,910/month
    • Highly skilled workers: Rs50,868/month

These recommendations were published in the Sindh Government Gazette by Mohammad Naeem Mangi Secretary of the Wages Board. Anyone who wants to raise objections to the proposal has 14 days to submit their concerns.

The notification clearly mentioned that the new wages are minimum rates not upper limits. If any employer is already paying more than these suggested amounts then they must not reduce the salaries. In fact companies can pay more based on experience, local living costs or other valid reasons either on their own or through agreements with employees.

These updated rates will apply to all full time workers including those who are paid on a daily or piece rate basis from the day the Labour & Human Resources Department officially issues the order.
