The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is making serious measures of reducing fuel consumption and enhancing administrative governance. The provincial administration simply implemented a new weekly work-from-home policy and a long-awaited spring break among students following directives of the Chief Minister.
If you are a government employee or a student in the province, here is exactly how these new measures will affect your daily routine.
The New Friday Rule for Government Offices
To save fuel and reduce commuting costs, the KP Establishment and Administration Department (Cabinet Wing) has officially changed the work week for provincial staff.
- The Policy: All government offices will now observe a strict 100% work-from-home policy every single Friday.
- Duration: This rule will remain in place for the next two months, or until the overall fuel and economic situation improves.
By keeping employees home on Fridays, the government hopes to significantly cut down on the massive fuel consumption that comes with running official fleets and daily staff commutes.
KP Spring Break Details for Students
Students and teachers also get a breather, though it comes with a few conditions. The government notification officially announced a spring break for all public and private educational institutions across the province.
- Start Date: The break officially kicks off on March 24, 2026.
- The Catch: If you have board or university examinations scheduled during this time, you still have to show up. Exams are strictly exempted from the holiday order.

Interestingly, officials pointed out that the actual “break” only really covers four working days. Since government directives have already made Friday a work-from-home day, and the weekend covers Saturday and Sunday, students are essentially just getting the rest of the week off.
