In a huge crackdown Pakistan Railways Police Recovers Rs 485 Million Land.
The Pakistan Railways Police (PRP) has made a historic achievement by recovering encroached land worth Rs 485 million in the three major hubs, Lahore, Peshawar and Sukkur. It commenced in the earlier hours of the day and is a part of a nationwide order to get rid of illegal occupations on railway property.
A Triple-City Victory: Breaking Down the Recoveries
The local administration backed by heavy machinery deployed the anti-encroachment teams in three provinces at the same time to surprise illegal occupants.
Lahore: Plots of land along the railway lines that were valuable commercially were cleared off illegal sheds and warehouses.
Peshawar: Years old residential encroachments were removed to allow the future expansion of the railway.
Sukkur: Large expanses of land that was formerly used in the unlawful cultivation or warehousing of crops were returned to State ownership.
This synchronized action is one of the most effective financial recoveries that the department had experienced in the recent months.
Strategic Importance of the Land Retrieval
A spokesperson of Pakistan Railways, the reclaimed land plays a critical role in the future infrastructure projects under the Main Line-1 (ML-1) and other regional connectivity projects. With the release of these bottlenecks, the department will now be able to undertake technical surveys and follow upgrades that were previously hampered by unlawful structures.
Zero Tolerance Against Land Grabbing
Inspector General of Railways Police said that the operation that was carried out this morning is a signal to the land mafia. The police have been given the overall mandate to employ any means possible to safeguard the state property under the policy of Clean and Clear that is under the Ministry of Railways.
The officials have given a warning that any action to re-occupy such sites would lead to instant FIRs and criminal prosecution under the Railways Act.
