Nawaz Sharif Shares 100-Day Reform Plan With AJK Prime Minister to Boost Development

Politics in Pakistan rarely gives people a slow news week, and this time the update came straight out of Lahore. Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N president, sat down with the newly sworn-in AJK leadership and handed them a 100-day reform plan. For families living in Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Poonch, this isn’t just political theatre. It could decide how fast basic services actually reach their doorstep.

    What Happened in Lahore

The meeting brought together some big names. AJK Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani arrived in Lahore along with Assembly Speaker Tariq Farooq, and PM Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz were also present. It wasn’t just a photo opportunity. Nawaz used the sitting to lay out clear priorities his party wants the new AJK government to act on within its first hundred days in office.

Why Punjab’s Development Model Matters Here

PML-N leadership specifically told the AJK government to follow Punjab’s development model, which usually means quicker execution and visible groundwork rather than long planning cycles. For people in AJK, this could translate into faster hospital upgrades, better school buildings, cleaner drinking water, improved sanitation, and stronger road links between the three divisions.

    Ground Reality for AJK Residents

Life in many parts of AJK still comes with real challenges. Mobile internet drops out in hilly areas, bank branches are few and far between, and reaching a proper hospital can mean hours of travel. Gillani has already promised to widen internet access and push digital governance, which matters a lot for residents who depend on mobile wallets for everyday payments and remittances from relatives working abroad.

What Locals Should Keep An Eye On

    • Budget announcements for health and education in the coming weeks.
    • Any new digital service counters or government apps.
    • Regular progress reports from the AJK Legislative Assembly.
    • Comments from opposition leader Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin on how the plan is being tracked.

A Fresh Start After the Elections

This whole plan lands right after AJK’s 2026 general elections, which were held in three separate phases across Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Poonch. Now that forty-six members have taken their oath, people expect actual delivery, not another round of speeches.

    Conclusion

For ordinary households across AJK, what matters isn’t the handshake in Lahore but whether hospitals get better, schools get repaired, and the internet actually reaches remote villages within these hundred days. If that happens, this reform plan becomes more than a headline.
