Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government will approach Saudi authorities to help 67,000 Pakistani pilgrims who might not be able to perform Hajj in 2025 due to delays in agreements and payments.
The PM during a meeting on the issue promised that all measures would be taken to address this problem. Those who attended the meeting included Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, members of the Senate Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Hajj Organizers Association of Pakistan (HOAP).
PM Shehbaz expressed extreme concerns at the Hajj crisis and ordered authorities to immediately seek help from the Saudi Government.
The delegation informed the PM about the status of the case. They urged him to try to make it possible for the pilgrims to perform the Hajj in 2025.
Earlier on Friday Dr. Attaur Rehman, Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs told the Senate that the issue is now out of the government control. He also explained Saudi Arabia new Hajj policy which says that no Hajj group organizer with less than 2,000 pilgrims will be allowed to operate. Due to this 904 smaller Hajj organizers have been merged into 45 large Hajj companies.
