Today on April 19, 2025, a powerful earthquake struck multiple areas in Pakistan.
Some reports say the earthquake was of 5.9 magnitude which originated from the border of Afghanistan and Tajikistan and came to surface at 06:47 AM UTC (11:47 AM Pakistan time). The quake was estimated to be 94 kilometers deep which lessens its surface impact.
The earthquake was felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Sialkot, Chiniot, Swat, Abbottabad, Chitral, Bajaur, Mardan and Nowshera as well as parts of Gilgit Baltistan.
Residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi felt strong jolts but there are reports of mild tremors in other areas such as Sialkot and Chiniot etc.
There are no immediate reports of casualties or property damage. Emergency services are on alert to tackle any unforeseen situations.
