The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has introduced the Maktab System, a computer-based system to keep a complete record of the students. Wajiha Qamar, the Federal Education Minister announced this system which keeps track of enrollment, grades, transcripts and degrees.
In the first stage, the platform shall be willing to cover 25 public universities with an aim of extending to all the public universities in the country. This is aimed at enhancing transparency, time saving, and streamlining of academic tracking between admission and awarding of degrees.
Advantages of Maktab System
The Maktab system enables tracking of all students on one platform in regard to their academic progress. The system applies artificial intelligence (AI) to handle records in a safe and efficient manner.
It is also enhancing accountability and online control in higher institutions of learning, making their operations transparent and effective.
Simple Complaint Registration and Tracking
Students and parents are now capable of complaining online using e-katcheries and online portals. This enhances surveillance and serves a quick response to problems in learning institutions.
Phase 1 and Future Expansion
The initial stage will be the admissions of the BS program which will benefit approximately 4,000 students and then extend to other programs.
