KPITB has officially introduced the KP AI Training Plan, a pioneering initiative focused on bringing AI and cutting-edge digital skills to all strata of the society. It is one of the fundamental measures in the “Digital KP 2030 Roadmap” and is inclusive for teachers, civil servants, students and the general public. The KP government is dedicated to positioning the province as the heart of AI innovation and digital talent in Pakistan with this visionary perspective.

The master plan is more than just about imparting technical skills; it’s about embedding AI at the heart of public governance, education structures, and the engines of economic growth, to futureproof the province’s youth.

The AI Innovation Hub and Core Technical Training Framework

To support the smooth implementation of this multi-layer approach, KPITB has set up a dedicated AI Innovation Hub. The two-year program has been targeted at specific segments of population, including:

Teacher Empowerment: 1,500 public school teachers will be trained in digital literacy and implementation of practical use of AI in the classroom to modernise the education.

Bureaucratic Readiness: More than 1,000 public sector professionals from a diverse range of provincial ministries will complete the AI Leadership course, helping them to make decisions and deliver public services using data and artificial intelligence.

The School of AI: A specialized physical and digital institute is being set up to provide hands-on, practical AI instruction to over 2,000 top-performing students and tech professionals.

Mandatory AI Curriculum from Grades 6 to 12

In a historic move, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become the first province in Pakistan to approve Artificial Intelligence as a compulsory subject for students in Grades 6 through 12.

To successfully implement this advanced curriculum across public institutes, the provincial cabinet has sanctioned the recruitment of 7,555 new IT instructors. Simultaneously, existing computer labs and digital infrastructure in thousands of state schools are being systematically upgraded to teach foundational coding, machine learning, and data science concepts at an early age.

PKR 5 Billion Digital Skills Fund for Freelance Mastery

Realizing the gig economy around the world has a lot of potential, the KP government has designated a huge budget of PKR5 Billion to provide international certifications for the youth. More than 84,000 young men and women will be trained on state-of-the-art tech fields, either at a reduced cost or for free:

Generative and Agentic AI: Prompt engineering, deploying LLM, and creating autonomous AI agents.

Cybersecurity and Cloud Computing: Avoiding security risks to digital infrastructure and working with AWS/Azure platforms.

Data Science: Advanced Python programming, predictive analytics and management of big data.

This digital empowerment strategy allows KP’s youth to work remotely for international tech corporations, bringing valuable foreign exchange into the provincial economy.

Implementing AI-Driven Smart Governance in the Public Sector

The KP AI Training Plan isn’t restricted to academia; it is deeply embedded in the province’s push toward a completely paperless, smart government. KPITB is actively developing multilingual AI chatbots proficient in Pashto, Urdu, and English. These virtual assistants will be deployed across public portals, allowing everyday citizens to seamlessly file grievances, check land records, or request state services in their native languages.

By embracing the fourth industrial revolution early, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is creating a template for national digital transformation. Interested candidates and public school teachers can learn more and sign up for open cohorts through the official Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board Web Portal.
