The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has officially greenlit a monumental academic expansion marking the new PhD programs approval across multiple critical healthcare disciplines. The decisive approvals were finalized during the university’s historic 96th Syndicate meeting which was presided over by the newly appointed Vice Chancellor Major General (Retired) Professor Doctor Sohail Sabir.
This doctoral expansion introduces five specialized fields Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, Oral Biology and Medical Laboratory Sciences designed to boost local medical research and tackle faculty shortages in Punjab. Additionally, a new Department of Regenerative Medicine was established to offer MPhil and PhD degrees.
The Syndicate also approved 1,100 additional evening seats for BS Nursing across public-sector colleges and revised final year MBBS Paediatrics marks from 200 to 300 with updated clinical rotations. The admission deadlines may still be announced after these changes in medical education further harmonize medical education in Pakistan with international standards.
