Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Applauds US President Trump’s Support for the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a comprehensive official statement expressing his profound appreciation for United States President Donald Trump’s strong and vocal backing of the recently signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement . Communicating through his verified handle on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister reiterated that Pakistan, working hand in hand with its key strategic and brotherly allies—the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Turkiye—will persistently advance a proactive, defensive, and cooperative security architecture. This trilateral partnership is designed not only to safeguard their own sovereign borders but also to serve as a long-term stabilizing pillar for the security and developmental continuity of the entire wider region.

Decisive Leadership and Averting Nuclear Catastrophe in South Asia

One of the core components of the PM’s public speaking was a clear and direct recognition of the courage and decisive leadership of President Donald Trump in the past few months in the face of geopolitical turbulence. Targeted U.S. administrative and diplomatic measures played a key role in preventing an unprecedented nuclear disaster in South Asia and ensuring the safety of millions of civilian lives from the catastrophic consequences of extensive military escalation, Prime Minister Sharif said. International relations experts and diplomatic watchers point out that this public praise is a sign of the delicate balance of backchannel diplomacy, high-level foreign policy coordination and international mediation which helped defuse dangerous flashpoints in the subcontinent. Sharif stressed the need for the contemporary form of statecraft to constantly adjust its course to defuse the massive old grievances of the region, which cannot be resolved without the help of international cooperation, mature leadership and reliable mechanisms of deterrence.

The Core Vision of Durable Peace and Regional Prosperity

The Prime Minister further stated that the long-term peace achieved in the historic agreement of Makkah aimed to ensure a bright and economically stable and socially prosperous future for the hundreds of millions of citizens across South Asia and Middle East, emphasising that non-negotiable precondition for achieving such goals is durable peace. The formal arrangement securing mutual administrative support, cooperation on counter-terrorism, tactical intelligence sharing and joint military readiness exercises has been institutionalized between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye. The new alliance, which includes the support of key regional and international actors such as the United States, seeks to establish a durable peace of mind that effectively prevents regional aggression and creates a safe space conducive to cross-border commerce, foreign investment and infrastructure investment. In the end, the rising stature of Pakistan as a great proponent of peace and a strong stabilizing force in international affairs has strategic payoffs and continues to create cross-continental strategic partnerships that are beyond the region and geography.
