In a major development for national sports infrastructure, high-performance athletic tracking and sovereign cricket management systems former New Zealand tactician Mike Hesson is highly likely to retain his command over the national Test squad. Formally emerging on October 15, 2026 inside the country’s premium sports registries the administrative extension positions the current white ball specialist to navigate the high-stakes two matches red ball series against Sri Lanka scheduled for mid November.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) originally assigned Hesson an interim red-ball role following the abrupt removals of head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul during a difficult home assignment against England. Having recently marshaled a successful 2-1 T20I bilateral series win over the Sri Lankan tourists Hesson has publicly voiced his commitment to a permanent multi-format restructuring project. He has strongly backed young debutant fast bowler Razaullah alongside short format skipper Sahibzada Farhan to drive long-term transition models.
