    How to Apply for Police Character Certificate in Pakistan

    A Police Character Certificate is an official document issued by Police and states the criminal record status. This certificate is required when you are applying for a visa, immigration, job abroad or higher education. 

    Who Needs a Police Character Certificate?

    You may need this certificate if:

    • You are applying for a visa or immigration
    • You are going for a job abroad (like in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Canada, etc.)
    • You want to study in a foreign country
    • You are applying for a permanent residence (PR)

    Documents Required Police Character Certificate

    • Original and copy of CNIC or B-Form
    • Copy of valid passport
    • Photographs
    • Affidavit or application letter stating the reason for the certificate
    • Visa or job offer letter
    • Proof of residency
    • Fingerprint form (in some cities)

    Where to Apply for Police Character Certificate?

    You can apply at:

    • Your local police station or district police office (DPO)
    • Some cities allow online applications through Police Khidmat Markaz
    • In Punjab, you can also apply via the Punjab Police Khidmat Markaz Portal: https://pkm.punjab.gov.pk

    Application Process for Police Character Certificate

    1. Visit your local police station or police service center.
    2. Fill out the application form for the character certificate.
    3. Submit required documents and passport-size photos.
    4. Your details will be verified with police records.
    5. After clearance, your certificate will be issued usually within 5 to 10 working days.

    Online Application Method for Police Character Certificate

    In some cities, you can apply online:

    1. Visit the Khidmat Markaz portal or police department website.
    2. Create an account and fill out the application form.
    3. Upload scanned documents and photos.
    4. Pay the processing fee online (usually between Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000).
    5. Track your application online.
    6. Download or collect your certificate once it’s ready.

     Police Character Certificate for Overseas Pakistanis

    If you are living abroad:

    • You can apply through the Pakistan embassy/consulate in your country.
    • Alternatively you can give power of attorney to someone in Pakistan who can apply on your behalf at your home police station.
