Students who wish to apply for the Punjab Student Bike Scheme need to fulfill the following basic academic and regional eligibility criteria laid down by the Higher Education Department (HED) and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB):
Regular Student Enrollment: Applicant should be a regular (full time) student of an HEC recognized degree college or university of Punjab. This phase is not applicable for students of private schools, distance learning schools, or schools that are not registered.
Age: Student should be minimum of 18 years old as of date of application.
Valid Domicile: Applicant should have valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and Form-B with domicile of any district of the Punjab province.
Academic Discipline: All major streams are welcome from General Sciences, Medical, Engineering, IT, Commerce, Humanities and all others provided the institution confirms their enrollment status.
Punjab Student Bike Scheme Mandatory Driving License Condition
The most critical and non-negotiable condition for the Punjab Student Bike Scheme is the legal right to ride. The government has prioritized road safety and legal compliance above all else.
Every applicant—regardless of gender—must possess a valid motorcycle driving license or, at the very least, an official Learner’s Driving Permit issued by the Punjab Traffic Police. Applications submitted without a valid learner permit number or driving license number will face immediate automatic rejection by the online portal. Punjab Student Bike Scheme Gender Quotas, Special Benefits, and Installment Plans
This transport program is designed with a heavy focus on women’s empowerment and supporting underprivileged youth. The financial structure and allocation of the 100,000 E-bikes include distinct relief policies:
Massive Relief for Female Students: To encourage higher education among girls, female applicants receive maximum support. The Punjab government will fully cover their advance down payment and registration fees. Female students are only required to pay a highly subsidized, interest-free monthly installment of just Rs. 2,100.
Male Students Plan: Male applicants are required to pay a minimal down payment of approximately Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 15,000, followed by a similarly low, interest-free monthly payment of around Rs. 2,100.
100% Free Bikes for Orphan Students: In a deeply compassionate move, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that students who are orphans will receive their electric bikes completely free of cost, with the provincial government absorbing 100% of the expenses.
Punjab Student Bike Scheme Disqualifications: Who Cannot Apply?
Even if you are a regular university student, you will be deemed ineligible for the Punjab Student Bike Scheme if you fall under any of the following categories:
Students who already have a registered motor vehicle or motorcycle under their own CNIC.
Applicants who have a poor credit history or whose bank guarantees are blacklisted by any financial institution (as the program runs in collaboration with the Bank of Punjab).
Any student who has previously received a vehicle or asset through any other active or past federal/provincial government youth scheme.
Punjab Student Bike Scheme Transparent Selection via Digital E-Balloting
The selection process is all online, to ensure transparency and avoid political or personal preferences. Upon online application closing at the official portal (bikes.punjab.gov.pk), the PITB will hold an automated E-Balloting (Computerized lucky draw).
The 100,000 E-bikes have been allocated in a strategic manner according to population throughout the city, giving students in the remote areas of southern and northern Punjab an equal chance as compared to studying in the major cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
