Eight road construction/rehabilitation/upgrade projects worth nearly Rs. 1 billion have been sanctioned by the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in Sargodha District.
These projects have been funded under the Own Source Revenue (OSR) Program and will enhance connectivity and improve the transportation network.
Which Roads Will Be Upgraded?
The biggest outlay of Rs. 228.674 million has been allocated for the construction/rehabilitation of the road link from Johar Colony to Fatima Jinnah Road via Gillwala Railway Crossing and Haripurah Bridge.
Rs. 175.79 million is the outlay of the Sargodha City Roads Package, including Dairy Road, Azad Road, New Urdu Bazaar Road, Grain Market Road, Pilot School Road and Ara Market Road.

While the Khayam Chowk project will be about rehabilitation and restructuring, the Sial Mor project will be about landscaping and interchanges.
Punjab Bans Digging Of New Roads
Along with the projects, the Punjab Government has ordered the authorities not to dig up newly built roads for two years.
This will help protect the newly constructed infrastructure and will stop the constant damage caused by excavation work on them.
The authorities have also been asked to ensure that proper roadside drainage, properly leveled manholes, and road markings are done in project areas.
Conclusion
There is an aim to provide improved road connectivity by resolving issues related to congestion and inadequate infrastructure through the implementation of the Sargodha road improvement projects. With an investment close to Rs. 1 billion for the project, it is a large project.
