The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has officially launched School Hockey League programs to give a lift to the national sport at grassroots level. This tournament, which is scheduled to open on November 15, 2026, across the country will help lay a strong foundation for the national teams’ talent pipeline. During a consultative high-level meeting in Islamabad led by the IPC Secretary and the chief of the Pakistan Humanitarian Partnership (PHF), Mohiyuddin Ahmed Wani, the strategy was finalized.
Tournament Structure and Progressive Rounds
The competition is extremely huge to involve the students from all the Provinces such as Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad Capital Territory. The tournament will be a structured tiered tournament:
First Phase: The simultaneous rounds of Tehsil, District and Divisional will be conducted throughout the country in November.
Provincial Phase: The regional teams that manage to clear will go on to provincial qualifiers in January.
National Phase: The grand final will be held in February to determine the national winners.
The federation is coming up with significant monetary incentives to promote sustainable engagement. The monthly stipend to be given to the top three finishing teams will be Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,500, and Rs. 5,000, respectively, guaranteed for one full year. Moreover, the team and individual winners will get fully-funded international exposure tours.
The PHF will also annually choose 100 students in each cohort (boys and girls) for targeted summer enrichment camps. They will offer students academic tutoring, modern fitness training and professional hockey coaching to help students grow in all areas.
