The Sindh Culture and Tourism Department under the leadership of Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah has announced a major initiative called the Sindh Talent Hunt Programme to support cultural talent across the province.
This decision was made during a high level meeting where several important steps were also approved to protect Sindh heritage and promote tourism.
One of the key actions is the implementation of strong monitoring systems to protect historical buildings. This comes after public outrage over the demolition of iconic structures like the Kanji and Cowasjee buildings. The minister expressed deep disappointment over the loss of these historic landmarks.
The department plans to reduce prices at popular resorts and provide free internet services to improve the visitor experience. New tourism projects like jeep desert safaris and camping in Tharparkar are also being planned.
The Sindh Archives will be digitally linked with the British Library to help preserve historical documents.
The government is also working on several cultural digitization projects. These include turning Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai poetry into mobile apps and translating the history of Mohenjo Daro into more than 15 languages to reach a global audience.
A detailed report about the demolition of heritage buildings will be sent to the Sindh Chief Minister and further actions are expected to preserve the cultural heritage of the province.
