In line with the guidelines and regulatory frameworks issued by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (Ufone 4G) has proactively commenced deployment and testing of its Next-Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) network. The cellular firm has reported excellent data transmission performance in its still-developing deployment, with initial field tests exceeding 300 Mbps for downloads.
Although a full-scale commercial 5G launch in Pakistan is awaiting regulatory auctions, Ufone has quietly started to use its 5G spectrum in select high-traffic areas, commercial markets and congested traffic corridors in the federal capital.
In case you are staying in Islamabad or passing through the town and have a compatible smartphone, then here is the complete and ground verified list of operational Ufone 5G sites till now.
Residential and Commercial Sectors with Active Ufone 5G Coverage
Ufone has strategically prioritized premium residential and bustling commercial zones in Islamabad to deploy its initial high-frequency nodes. Signal bars have been successfully registered across the following sectors:
Sector F-10: Excellent outdoor and indoor coverage has been recorded in F-10/2 and F-10/3, specifically stretching toward the Margalla Road traffic junction.
Sector F-8: Network infrastructure has been upgraded to support high-speed data transmission in F-8/1 and near the commercial blocks of F-8/4.
Sectors F-7 & F-6: Consistent test signals are active throughout the premium market loops of F-7 and sub-sectors G-6/1 and G-6/4.
Sectors G-8 & G-7: Mid-city network density has been enhanced with operational 5G transceivers running in G-8 Sector and core blocks of G-7.
Sector G-9 (New Blue Area): Reliable high-speed bandwidth is accessible along the commercial stretches of G-9/2 and G-9/3 facing the newly expanded corporate zone.
Sector G-5: Diplomatic enclave access points and government avenues near G-5/1 are also receiving localized test signals.
Major Highways, Thoroughfares, and Commercial Hubs
To cater to on-the-go professionals and recreational visitors, the telecom giant has activated advanced nodes across vital transport arteries and major economic centers:
The Blue Area Strip: The central business district running along Jinnah Avenue—specifically the high-traffic zone surrounding Savour Foods—delivers peak 5G speeds.
The Centaurus Mall: One of Islamabad’s largest retail hubs and its surrounding plazas have dedicated network coverage, allowing users to experience low-latency gaming and streaming.
Srinagar Highway Corridor: Commuters moving along the Srinagar Highway will find active coverage near the G-8 interchange and the loop surrounding the Serena Hotel.
Islamabad Expressway & Faizabad: Signal synchronization is active along the primary expressway (near the G-8 link) extending down to the busy Faizabad Interchange, linking the federal capital to Murree Road.
Fatima Jinnah Park (F-9 Park): Public open-air coverage is running within the main parameters and perimeter pathways of F-9 Park.
Margalla Road: Intermittent high-speed connectivity is visible on the Margalla Road stretch adjacent to Sector E-10.
Requirements to Connect to the Ufone 5G Network
To tap into these active trial sites without incurring separate data package fees, customers must fulfill three basic hardware and software prerequisites:
The user shall have a PTA-approved 5G enabled smartphone.
Network Settings Check: Mobile phone network setting for 5G/4G/3G/2G (Auto) or Preferred Network Type should be 5G under SIM Settings Menu.
Users have to be in line of sight or near proximity to the upgraded towers listed above to receive high-frequency 5G test signals as compared to standard 4G LTE signals, which have a longer range.
Ufone intends to systematically expand this footprint to remaining sectors of Islamabad before initiating subsequent rollout phases in neighboring Rawalpindi, followed by Lahore and Karachi.
