On April 14, 2026, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced arecord-breaking prize pool of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 publicly. Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 12-Team Format
The 2026 T20 world cup will be the first world cup of its kind to have 12 teams as opposed to the 10 teams in the past. The expansion will ensure that the tournament is more inclusive and give the emerging countries a platform to display their talent in the world.
Sanjog Gupta, the Chief Executive of ICC, stressed that this growth is not by chance. The addition of 12 teams along with the largest prize pool in history, serves as the testament to our ambition to create a more robust, more competitive global game, Gupta said. He observed that the rise in investment is an indicator of the rise in the impact of female athletes on the international scene.
Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Official Trophy Tour
As a way of celebrating the announcement, the ICC hosted the official Trophy Tour at the legendary Lord Cricket Ground in London. The tour started by a gorgeous visual projection of the silhouette of the trophy on the historic pavilion.
The Trophy Tour Route:
Europe: Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland.
England: The trophy will be taken to different host cities in the country to generate momentum before the opening ceremony.
The tournament is to be officially started on June 12, 2026, and England will be the host country.
