Pakistan Super League (PSL) has officially announced a new location of PSL 11 as such, and this will be the fifth city hosting PSL matches in the next season in the tournament.
This move will assist in expanding the PSL action to additional areas of Pakistan and provide the fans of another huge city with an opportunity to see the matches on the stadium screen.
This announcement was made at a meeting of the PSL Governing Council in the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. This was the inaugural meeting of the PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, and all the eight franchises were present as well as senior PCB and PSL officials.
During the meeting, officials also confirmed that PSL 11 will begin on March 26. Discussions are still underway regarding player retention and a possible hybrid draft and auction model for team selection.
New Venue Linked With Franchise Planning
The newly added venue is Iqbal Stadium, which may also play a role in planning for the upcoming Sialkot franchise. Earlier reports suggested the team could use this ground as a “home away from home” until its own stadium is fully ready.
Franchise owner Hamza Majeed has hinted that the city holding the venue has personal importance for him. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had also earlier said the stadium would host PSL matches in the next season.
Backup Option While Stadium Upgrades Continue
Sialkot is expected to upgrade Jinnah Stadium after joining PSL. However, if development takes time, the newly announced venue offers a ready option with experience in hosting international-level cricket.
This makes it a practical and safe choice for PSL matches in the short term.
Historic Ground Ready for PSL Action
Iqbal Stadium, earlier known as Lyallpur Stadium, is among Pakistan’s historic cricket grounds. It returned to international cricket in November 2025 when it hosted a three-match ODI series against South Africa.
The series attracted large crowds and showed that the stadium is fully capable of hosting major tournaments like the PSL.
With another city added, PSL 11 is expected to reach more fans across the country. Supporters will get better access to live matches, and the league’s atmosphere will become even stronger.
The PSL 11 New Venue Announced decision reflects PCB’s aim to grow the league and take cricket to more parts of Pakistan.
