An ISA devastating suicide attack of a Shia mosque (Imambargah) in the federal capital has resulted in the death of at least 31 people as well as injured 169 people. The explosion occurred during the Friday prayers in the Tarlai province in the city of Islamabad and ruptured the peaceful atmosphere of the city and caused a country wide security panic.
It was shot in Khadijatul Kubra Mosque. According to police officials and eyewitnesses, the incidences began by the firing of guns when a suicide bomber entered the mosque walking to the gate before detonating his bomb.
Zaheer Abbas, a survivor who was inside praying at the time, recounted the terrifying moments to reporters:
“We bowed and then prostrated, and then there was an explosion… After which there were injured people lying everywhere. I lost my senses.”
The caretaker Syed Ashfaq of the mosque who resides next to the site came out instantly after hearing the gunshots.
As I reached it an explosion had already happened. There were bodies lying all about, some without arms, some without legs. We had carried away in our own car the worst wounded.
The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Irfan Memon confirmed the number of deaths and said that (31 people were dead and 169 were being treated at the moment).
There was a declaration of an emergency in all the major hospitals within the capital. With the ambulances and personal vehicles rushing the victims to medical facilities, there were desperate calls to take blood to rescue the severely injured.

Official Condemnation Islamabad Imambargah Blast
The highest governmental officials have condemned the attack:
Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif lamented, and proceeded to launch an imminent and comprehensive inquiry to apprehend the offenders.
President Asif Ali Zardari described the attack as an atrocious crime and said, “Attacking innocent civilians is a crime against humanity.
This event is a major security infringement in the capital which has experienced quite a few attacks over the years compared to other areas. Nonetheless, it occurs after a fatal week of violence in Balochistan, when the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) organized attacks on 58 lives.
It is the worst attack in the city of Islamabad since November where a blast outside a court of law claimed 12 lives.
