The academic routine of Punjab has been disrupted with Punjab’s Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE Faisalabad) announcing postponement of some exams of 9th class (Matric Part-I). This has been criticized by thousands of students and parents who are presently undergoing the annual examination process for May 2026. The move is a reaction to a serious allegation of the integrity of the examination process.
Biology Paper Leak Scandal
The main reason for the postponement is the leaked Biology paper. The exam authorities say the paper for the second group (evening session) was leaked and spread on social media before the official exam time.
The Controller of Examinations made the instant decision to cancel the current session for the concerned subjects so as to maintain the merit based system and provide equal chance to all candidates. This is a very serious violation of security as per the Punjab Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Act.
Which Papers are Affected?
The first report was for Biology and the board has extended the postponement to include several of the second group of key subjects. The postponed papers are:
Biology (Science Group)
Computer Science (Science Group)
Ahl-e-Hadith Dars-e-Nizami (Religious Education Group):
Board officials have explained that the papers which are not included in this list and the subjects of Morning Session are to be conducted as per original Date Sheet unless otherwise notified.
Inquiry Launched and Revised Schedule
The Punjab Education Department has given a hard slap at the incident. A high-level inquiry committee has been set up to determine the cause of the leak, in a printing press, a distribution centre or an examination hall. Staff and outsiders who are responsible for the leak will face “strict disciplinary and legal action,” officials say.
The new dates, meanwhile, the board’s officials said, will post the new plan for the delayed exams in the coming days. Students are reminded to keep in contact with their assigned schools and keep an eye on the assigned portals for notifications.
