President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have expressed heartfelt congratulations to the leadership and brotherly people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of the 96th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Pakistani leadership in separate official statements to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud pointed to the “historically strong ties of shared faith, trust and mutual goodwill” between the two brotherly nations. This is a high-level diplomatic outreach that reflects Pakistan’s never-ending resolve to stand with the Kingdom against the threat of encroachments on its territorial sovereignty, security and the sanctity of Islam’s holiest shrines.
Deepening Strategic and Defence Cooperation
What has developed between Islamabad and Riyadh is far more than cordial diplomatic pleasantries, it is a sophisticated security and economic partnership. President Asif Ali Zardari pointed out that the ratification of the pivotal agreements, such as the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement and the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, has greatly strengthened the strategic component of the country’s historic alliance with Saudi Arabia.
This strengthened defense posture features the following:
Real-Time Intelligence Synchronization: Connecting high-speed digital communications between the respective defense command nodes, with the aim of preventing cross-border security threats in advance.
Joint Security Protocols: Scheduling defensive operations along strategic maritime routes and indices in the region for stable geopolitical indices.
Unconditional Sovereignty Support: Islamabad sees any threat to Saudi Arabia’s territorial integrity as a matter of its national defense system.
Vision 2030 and Economic Alignment via SIFC
PM Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the transformative leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, highlighting the remarkable progress Saudi Arabia has made since the dawn of Vision 2030 in its journey towards modernization, technological advancement, and sustainable prosperity. The Prime Minister emphasized that this longstanding brotherhood is transforming into a strong economic partnership for the mutual development and growth of both countries.
The federal government is now making use of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to facilitate foreign direct investments from Saudi corporations and the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) to make the best of this momentum. Pakistan provides safe routes for joint ventures in the areas of agricultural technology, alternative energy and industrial infrastructure, substituting outmoded, cumbersome bureaucracy with frictionless, Internet-based investment portals. Such a commercial integration, calculated in advance, not only adds predictability to the national economy, but also presents a very open, progressive picture of bilateral cooperation in the international arena.
