The passport services are receiving significant upgrading in Pakistan, and it is positive news to the citizens of the country and other nations. The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports in Islamabad has officially introduced a real-time, modern passport tracking system to the interior minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The new regime is set to highly monitor all progress in the passport procedure, such as the applications, printing, delivery and employee performance. It is primarily aimed at making passport services quicker, safer and transparent to the population.
Real-Time Monitoring Across Pakistan and Abroad
On his visit, Mohsin Naqvi launched a state-of-the-art digital system enabling the government to track the passport activities in real time, not necessarily in Pakistan, but also in missions abroad.
This is good news according to the officials as citizens are in a position to view how their applications are being handled up to the final delivery. Any delays, mistakes and technical problems can now be detected early enough, which will save on waiting time and increase the service quality.
24/7 Monitoring Room and Call Center
Along with the monitoring system, a 24/7 monitoring room and call center have also started operating. Citizens can now contact the department at any time for help related to passports and emergency travel documents.
The emergency travel document service has been fully digitized, which means quicker processing for people who urgently need to travel. Once again, this is good news for citizens who previously faced long delays.
Strong Security and Automated Printing
Officials briefed the minister about the SHIKRA system, which carefully tracks each stage of the passport process. Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan’s passport services now match international standards.
New security features follow ICAO guidelines, and automated German machinery has been installed for printing. With full automation, human interference is reduced, making passports more secure and error-free. Because of this improvement, this is good news for citizens who want safer and faster passport services.
Digital Dashboard and Inspections
The minister also inspected the e-monitoring room, forensic lab, call center, and production unit. The authorities said that there is a digital dashboard which indicates the number of people on the street, backlog, and machine operation nationwide.
The event was attended by senior officers such as DG FIA, DG Immigration and Passports, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, IG Islamabad Police as well.
This is a positive move towards modern and reliable passport services in Pakistan with these reforms in place being good news to its citizens.
