The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) have introduced the next generation Smart National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP). The new card with an embedded secure microchip, advanced biographical verification safeguards and machine-readable QR code would ensure the quick verification and better data security of the Pakistani community abroad.
In addition to being an official ID card, the smart card also allows the cardholder to enter Pakistan visa-free, while providing him complete powers to purchase real estate, operate bank accounts and engage in financial transactions within the country.
