Formal and comprehensive conversations were held over the phone between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, embarking on a significant diplomatic initiative to strengthen strategic and economic relations between the two countries. The high-level meeting was an important opportunity to discuss the recent developments in the Bilateral Relations between Pakistan and Kuwait, the current security challenges in the Middle East and ways for better coordination of the multi-billion dollar investment frameworks between the two brotherly nations. Both leaders affirmed their dedication to having a strong organizational partnership on common shared objectives.

Kuwait Congratulates Pakistan on the Landmark Makkah Joint Defense Agreement

One of the eye-catching events of the phone call was the recent signing of the trilateral mutual defense pact between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah gave Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar warm congratulations for the successful completion of the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement.

The Kuwaiti government saw the agreement as a historic move towards regional security self-reliance and strategic balance in the Muslim community. Kuwait’s positive reception underscores the broader acceptance of this defensive triad among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, who view the integration of Pakistani strategic deterrence and Turkish military technology as a stabilizing force for the volatile region.

Deep Concerns Shared Over Occupied East Jerusalem and Middle East Stability

Both foreign ministers said they were extremely concerned about ongoing regional escalations in the face of the deteriorating geopolitical situation in the Middle East. The focus of the dialogue was clearly the critical human rights situation in Occupied East Jerusalem (Al-Quds Al-Sharif).

DPM Dar and his Kuwaiti counterpart strongly criticized unilateral measures that are aimed at damaging the historical and legal rights of the holy city. In defense of Pakistan’s unequivocal position on the international platform, they both called for the implementation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions as early as possible, highlighting the inescapable fact that the region can never achieve peace without a just, sustainable and independent two-state solution for Palestine.

Accelerating Economic Cooperation and Capital Investment via the SIFC

Beyond regional geopolitics, the conversation prioritized the execution of economic roadmaps established during the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister’s recent official visit to Islamabad. The two leaders reviewed concrete follow-up actions to convert bilateral Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) into operational realities, leveraging Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). Key focal points of the economic partnership include:

Strategic Investment: Expediting Kuwaiti sovereign fund investments in Pakistan’s high-yield sectors, including corporate agriculture, green energy infrastructure, and mineral extraction.

Manpower and Labor Export: Streamlining regulatory frameworks to facilitate the export of skilled Pakistani professionals, particularly in Information Technology (IT), healthcare, and engineering, to meet Kuwait’s modern developmental requirements.

Trade Expansion: Increasing the volume of bilateral trade by convening the next session of the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) to remove customs barriers and boost business-to-business (B2B) linkages.
