The Pakistan Railways Headquarters in Lahore has officially issued strict directives to all private train operators to immediately restore discounted tickets, travel passes and concessionary privileges for eligible passengers. The directive follows an influx of public grievances reported through official federal accountability channels.
The Office of the Chief Commercial Manager addressed the notification to prominent outsourced administrative firms including S. Jamil & Company, ZKB-BT JV, AA Enterprises, Prime Rail and Lasani Cargo. According to corporate documentation the department cited Clause 5.15 of its commercial agreements which legally binds private operators to honor specific Pakistan Railways private trains concessions. These legal mandates cover senior citizens, disabled individuals, accredited journalists and both active and retired railway personnel holding valid privilege or duty passes.
The state regulatory authority clarified that these standard travel facilities will remain completely active on outsourced routes. However, passengers must utilize the allocated concessionary quota at least 48 hours prior to the train’s scheduled departure time. In the past many passengers have been directly rejected while making formal complaints through the Pakistan Citizen Portal and the Wafaqi Mohtasib (Federal Ombudsman). The railway authorities in reply have urged passengers to report immediately any violation to the station masters for the region to take strict action. Operators are expected to be very careful to comply with the State policies or else they are liable to the huge contractual fines.
